Hi everyone:
As you might be aware, the federal Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation has recently installed “No Trespassing” signs on many of the trails we ride (and likely run and walk) in the lower Mount Seymour area. The nature of the boundaries between CMHC, DNV and Metro Vancouver land effectively renders the trail network unusable if one follows the letter of the law concerning the signage. See the global news story below for more details about the complexity of the situation and the issues it raises for both current access and future trail maintenance in the area.

North Vancouver councilor, Mathew Bond, is spearheading a local approach to open a conversation between the DNV, Metro Vancouver and advocacy groups such as the NSMBA, with the goal of resolving the issue and restoring normal access. If you are interested in assisting this initial effort, please add some comments to his Facebook link below. Mr. Bond is collecting supporting information from local users and residents to assist in his initial communication around the trail network’s local importance with the folks in Ottawa:

Please add some notes to this link if you'd like to support the effort to normalize our access. Thanks!
Jonathan
