Hi
Rode Burke today. (May 24)The trails are in the best shape I have seen them in years. Today was the best ride I have been on this year. Did 2 laps and I can't stop smiling. Lap 1. Bean and Nescafe.
Lap 2. Triple Crown, Slayer, Dawg, Trail I can never remember the name and finished on Fly Wheel. So I am thinking if the weather stays the good I would like to do the same. It took us 4 hours at a good steady pace and were done like bacon at the end. If it works for who ever is in my group we will give it ago. Heads up, these trails are covered in beautiful Loammmm! If I catch you skidding I will beat you with a Wiffle Bat! ;D Bring lots of water and food.
Thank Sheldon

If Sheldon is taking his group on 2 laps then we'll adjust the inter/adv and adv rides accordingly. There is a lot to ride up there with multiple options on the lower side. Although this is a relatively technical area there is a fair bit of pedaling to do so if you are comfortable descending in a XC helmet I would go with that instead of a full face helmet. The weather is supposed to be warm as well so that may sway you towards an XC lid. Full on DH bikes are fun there as I have hauled the Team DH up multiple times but the perfect bike is a 6 and 6.
In terms of trails, just in case you have never been there:
Upper/Lower Vic's: probably the most technical but there are some ride a rounds for some of the more steep bits (I love these trails especially Lower Vic's)
Bean/Nescafe: Very flowy and fast and easier than Upper/Lower Vic's
Triple Crown (Upper Red R, Lower Red R and Galloway, now more like Upper/Lower Red R and a choice of a few trails which include Bob's, Dawg, Flow and a couple of others): this is the classic Burke trail and Lower Red R has a completely new line from top to bottom and links up with Dawg. This is by far the easiest way down the mountain and but the most work if you take the new route.
There are other trails, some hidden, others just not ridden much. Some of these are:
Wellgo (Grover's Revenge)
Sawblade (Upper and Lower)
Coquitlam River Connector
X-ing (though I think it is too far gone now)
Elevator (the name describes the trail to a T)
Flywheel (but you need to park at the school below)
Galloway
My favorite ride there right now is Bean to Lower Vic's back up to Triple Crown (Dawg) then playing around on the other lower trails.
I'm really looking forward to this ride, can you tell.
Brian
I hope I'm right in saying this ride is on the Saturday 'cos is says Sunday here: ;D [/quote]
Oops, the ride is on SATURDAY!
Karen.
